The resignation of Mani , Finance Minister , involved in bribery case , is likely to hasten the extinction of Congress rule in Keralam. Already dead horse in the rest of India , this party survived in this State , by the solid backing of Christians and Muslims. The Panchayath elections revealed the fact that people have realized the fact that these religions were only exploiting their sentiments , to exploit them. We can safely bet that Communists will win convincingly, in the elections due in May 2016

I MISS MY KERALAM

Now I am in Delhi for the last two months ; I miss the green rice fields , the rows of coconut trees , the rivers and the Western Ghats , guarding the land and causing torrential rains. I miss the people I used to meet , while selling books. The daily bus journey , often very crowded , the waiting for the bus for Chathakudam, at Trichur and the hot tea and vada at Radhakrishna coffee house .

Above all , I miss the ‘deeparadhana’ (arti) in the evening at Sastha temple at Chathakudam ! From six to seven in the evening , I spend in the temple .

The journey to Guruvayoor temple each month, on the first of the Malayalam month, is another memorable journey. It costs only Rs.20 bus fare , from Trichur to Guruvayoor. The crowd in the temple is horrible , but I patiently stand in the que. Even if I get preference as senior citizen, the people press me hard , as we near the sanctum. Even if only for a few seconds, ‘darhan’ fills my soul with nectar !

The easiest way is chain snatching . Not only in the towns , even in the remote Sastha temple at Chathakudam , a man coming on bike, pulled the necklace of a woman and escaped, in broad day light. The police could not nab him.

Robbery of banks and jewelry shops is happening daily, especially in Trichur. They make an opening in the wall and remove all valuables. The number of jewelry shops is maximum n Keralam. Here in Delhi , one has to search for it! Money coming from the Gulf, has to be spent. Unemployment is the major cause of increasing criminals.

‘Quotation’ killers are buy , because murder is a political weapon. The killers can earn easily , rarely are they caught ; do policemen get a share?

Concealed crime like corruption, is at its peak. Smuggling of gold and narcotics is daily news. The road is not safe, even for those who walk; drunk drivers and those on motor bikes care nothing for us.

I will not recommend Keralam, to those retiring from service. Tamilnadu may be a better place. In Keralam , all things are coming from there!

At Kasargod , in the extreme north of Keralam , there was a bank robbery involving many people . They terrorized the people and took away cash and jewelry in the lockers. With the help of one witness , the police have released the sketch of one person.. The culprits must have fled to other states . It is impossible to nab then.

There is a guard with a gun , at the entrance to the banks ; it is just a show. Many ATM booths are unguarded .

Some electronic device has to be installed , which can be activated by any member of the staff. It must produce alarm throughout t he street and people may come forward to help the banks.

HAPPY ONAM

THANK GOD ONAM IS OVER

During Ona days all shops and offices remain closed I dear Keralam . In small towns and villages , even buses do not run ; the workers observe onam.

How do people spend their time? Eating and gambling , I suppose. Even otherwise , young people play cards to win or lose Policemen catch them and release them , after extracting their dues. Ladies may engage in folk dance.

According to legend , Mahabali was cursed by Vishnu and sent to the nether world . Every year he was allowed to visit his land . When he comes , we all show him that we are happy!

IIT-PALAKAD

Third August , 2015 is a land mark for Keralam. Indian Institute of Technology , Palakad has started functioning this day.
For the time being , the class rooms are in the open air. The State Government has sanctioned 160 crore for acquisition of land.

The number of States with IIT is limited . We are happy!

TEMPLE OF PARASHURAM

According to legend , it was Parashuram , who cleared the forests (his weapon is the axe) and reclaimed the land of Keralam. There is only one temple in Thiruvananthapuram where the Deity of this hero is installed. Every year in Thulam month , there is a festival here with two caparisoned elephants and beating of drums . (normally the number of elephants is odd)
Parashuram’s father suspected his wife Renuka, of infidelity and ordered his son to cut off her head. After faithfully complying with his orders , the father asked the son for a boon. He said:”Give me back my mother.”
So Renuka became alive and Parashuram brought her to the new land of Keralam.
The heroic fighter was the bitter enemy of Kshthriyas who ruled the countries of North India. (ironically , the two factions of the Indian National Congress , were led by Kamalapathy Tripathy (a Brahmin) and Gupta (a Kshatriya) .
Similarly , Ravan was a Brahman and Ram a Kshathriya.
Parashuram defeated Kshathiyas eighteen times in war . He had the Pashupthasthram , gifted by Lord Shiva.

For the first time in Keralam , the heart of a person killed in accident , has been successfully fixed inn the body of a patient. The heart was transported to Kochi in record time . The operation took five hours . It will take another few days to confirm that it is successful.
