OUR BODY AND ITS FUNCTIONING-6

CRANIUM
The front part of the skull above the eyes , has a strong plate of bone, because we fall down and are likely to break it. Three bones , joined together form the upper part. In a new born baby, these bones are still not fully merged and we can feel a softness there.
From ear to ear, is an opening, through which we can insert a rod, through the dead skull. The central part is called the middle ear or coclea . Here is the balancing mechanism. If we continuously turn round and stop, we may lose balance and fall down. After drinking alcohol, this part may be affected. That is why drunkard has to walk on four legs.
On either side of the middle ear, is a membrane which vibrate and we hear the sound waves. If this ‘tympanam’ is broken we cannot hear. To protect the membrane, there is a wax which comes out slowly. This must be removed by cotton buds. It is not advisable to pour hot oil , when the ear aches. Hydrogen peroxide solution may be dropped.
THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
The brain is connected to each cell, by neurons, long nerve cells joined together, end ot end similar to the electric wires. Leprosy germs eat away these cells and the patients lose ability to feel the touch. This is how they lose the tips of fingers. The neurons cover the whole body, like the blood veins.
The brain cells die in old age , some at a time, resulting in memory loss, hand shaking etc. Brain is like the Central Secretariat. In case of damage, the ‘sympathetic nervous system’ will carry on the day to day functions of the brain, to maintain the organs. The person will be in coma.
EAR
The head is located above the body, connected by the neck. The neck may be very short or very long. Similarly, there is considerable variation in the size of the head, features of the face and size and attractiveness of the eyes. But these are immaterial, when we study the working of the body as a whole.
The head is built on a strong frame of bone, called the cranium. It is not a single piece. Very young baby has a gap in the cranium, which gets filled, as the three bones constituting the skull, grow and fill the hole. The bone above our eyes is exceptionally strong, because , we all fall down often. Even if the face bleeds, nothing will normally break the bone. It is an example of His ability to see things in All organs of the body may get damaged, but one can survive, if the brain is intact. advance and design the cranium, to protect the brain, which is the most important member of the body as a whole !

CHRIST COLLEGE, IRINJALAKUDA

CHRIST COLLEGE, IRINJALAKUDA
Yesterday I went to sell books in Christ College, Irinjalakuda. I WAS DENIED ENTRY BY THE WATCHMAN . He pulled me off and left me on the road:”Wait for the Principal to come; talk to him on phone and if he permits, you may go in.”
I have been going there since the last twelve years. This is the first time I have been prevented from going in. How can I wait in the road?
I got into a bus, and reached the bus stand. From there, I went to the National Higher Secondary School , nearby. In the staff room, all my books were sold !

GODS HAVE FOUR HANDS

GODS HAVE FOUR HANDS
I envy those Gods who have four hands.
For safe travel in buses, I need at least for hands. Hold on the steel road overhead to keep from falling, especially when sudden break is applied. Two hands are required for taking out the purse and counting the charge. In my case, I carry a bag of books, so one more hand for that.
They are lucky, who have car and a PA !

A BLOGGER LYNCHED

A BLOGGER LYNCHED
I hate death, because it is negation of life. A newly married couple, travelling in a car hit and crushed, young lovers ending their life by hanging because of refusal of parents-these are more heart breaking because the whole life lay before them .
ow, an atheist blogger was killed by the people of Bangladesh. This is even more dastardly. His name is Avijit Roy, founder of Mukto-mona (free thinking)blog site. Being free thinking blogger, I feel the sorrow more than anybody else. May his soul rest in peace.

FIRE BALL

FIRE BALL
A luminous fire ball was observed in the southern districts of Keralam, at about ten in the night yesterday (27th February). It was bluish and moved slowly, across the sky with deafening sound. Mild earth quake was felt at Kochi, according to house wives. It was first noticed by firemen.
According to knowledgeable sources, it may be part of the debris of a rocket or satellite.

N.V.RAMAN WARRIAR

N.V.RAMA WARIAR
N. V. Rama Warriar has written his auto biography. I read it with interest, because he was the organizer of Balasamgham, at Chathakudam. Myself (ten years old) , my elder brother and K.K.Narayanettan were members of the Communist sponsored organization. There were other children also. Comrade M.N. Nair was another leader. I remember that I became sad, when Raman left us, afterwards.
The book contains valuable information about the Njerukkavil Warrium where his elder brother, the famous N.V.Krishna Warriar was born; but I was disappointed because the biography is incomplete.
For that, you must read the foreword. This is only Part-1 of the biography.
