BYE ELECTION IS GOOD BUSINESS

BYE ELECTION IS GOOD BUSINESS
People of Aruvikara are happy.. They can see a number of Ministers, MLAs, and other leaders, whom they have seen only in TV, in person.
Auto drivers, petty shop keepers and those who sell cool drinks etc. say business has increased tenfold. Boys who paste posters, are busy .
In short, it is boom in Aruvikar area

HIGHER STUDIES- THE SYSTEM IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO CREATIVE IDEAS

While in Delhi, I had occasion to have first hand information about people concerned with higher education.
Academic staff of the age group around thirty are generally found to be interested in new ideas.
They are handicapped by lack of funds. Their counterpartyts in in research institutions just do not bother about new ideas. They are happy with salary and perks which include foreign tours.
My friend and classmate Dr. C.V.Krishnanhas built a very elaborate laboratory with lecture and community hall, rooms for stay etc. at the eastern gate (gopuram) of the Bhagavathy temple at Cherpu, which can profitably fill this vacuum.
I suggest a few experiments to verify my theory about earth quakes, which I call the pressure cooker model.
Aim of the experiment
In order to study the effect of internal pressure, caused by the water inside the earth, converted into steam by geothermal energy, we may construct a pit of the size 3 by 3 by 3 metres, lined with brick or concrete, to prevent seepage of steam into the earth. One metre below the ground, an iron grill must cover the whole pit. Water in buckets may be placed at the bottom, heated by electric rod . There must be an instrument to gauge the pressure inside the pit, with facility to read it in the laboratory..
The portion above the grill must be filled with sand, stones etc. to simulate the crust of the earth, the thickness of which should be increased continuously, after each explosion , caused by continuous build up of the quantity of steam.
Each explosion must be recorded and video photos taken for the benefit of those who are unable to be present.
Geographic society
Today geography is receiving scant attention. In order to focuss attention on the study of this very important branch of science, it is inevitable to bring together all lovers of this subject under a society, which can have a permanent exhibition, library and program to conduct expeditions, to update our knowledge of rivers, mountains etc.
Intellectual forum
While most of the academic people lead a retired life, some may be interested in further studies and research. These people will have an opportunity to meet like minded people, still employed in active service. General public too can come and discuss things with the learned people.
Social work
1) Awareness of hidden diseases like diabetes and hypertension must be populared, for which lectures may be arranged.
2) Kitchen waste can be easily converted into biogas. As the cost of LPG is going up every now and then , this should be popularized.
3) Eye donation is made only in a few cases. Regular campaigns can be conducted for increasing the availability of eyes, by focussing on this subject.
It is the quality of research that matters, not the money spent.

MUSCLEMEN TO COLLECT DEBT DUES =’text/javascript’ src=

Suicides are too common in Keralam to deserve any mention. However today’s item in the newspaper should be studied by sociologists, to examine remedial measures.
A young man and his wife took poison and ended their lives, but failed to kill the baby which survived. They were without work and used to borrow from different sources. Musclemen employed to collect dues, were threatening them. In the end this happened.
The poorer strata of society are always in need of money. Banks will not oblige them. People from Tamilnadu are on the look out, to spot such needy guys. They come to your door and give you ready cash. It is tempting to borrow from them; you get money on the spot!
My suggestion is that women’s group of volunteers must come forward to handle such matters. Recovery must start from the next day, daily in the case of wage earners, without waiting for the amount to accumulate.
Each village must have one such group.

MIGRANT LABOUR =’text/javascript’ src=

Population explosion has created a large number of people without work or a plot of land. What will they do?

Without an address, they cannot apply for a passport or visa. The national boundaries are not marked on the land; so they just walk on till they find some town or village, whose appearance gives them some hope of livelihood, rag picking not excluded. Women do menial work.

(Animals and birds too migrate, in search of food or as is their biological nature, as in the case of some sea fish, which travel up a stream to lay eggs!)

They travel in unauthorized boats and ships, and land in unknown territory. If caught, at least they are assured of some food.

They are there throughout the world, causing headache to all nations except the very poor countries, from where they migrate..

In India, Bangladesh is the sore point. Tamil people from Srilanka are another problem.

The number of people in such condition can only be guessed.

The remedy is birth control, which is the least priority of Governments or the United Nations.

WHY?

INSTEAD OF WASTING MONEY IN THE NAME OF GLOBAL WARMING, LET THE UNITED NATIONS WAKE UP TO THE THREAT OF BABY BOMBS!

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF MALAYALAM MONTH OF THULAM=’text/javascript’ src=

There is a hill near Shoranur Railway station in central Keralam, called Rayinellur.

Today, on the first of Thulam, thousands of devotees climb up the hill to have a darshan of Devi, believed to have been worshiped by the famous lunatic of Naranath, a son of Vararuchi, the wandering Brahman, whose tribal wife gave birth to twelve sons, each one of whom was brought up by people of different castes, because the woman was forbidden to look after her children, and, each one became famous in his vocation.

The lunatic used to roll up a huge stone, all the way up the steep hill and then push it down. He would watch the stone come down crashing along the bush and shout with glee: HA HA HA.

He may be mocking the futility of life. Every one is pushing up the hill, not knowing what else to do.

During this time, it rains and it is very fifficult to go up the steep hill. I slipped once or twice. The large number of devotees, many quite aged as myself, did not bother about it When we reach the top, we can enjoy the scenery, it being tall and the only hill in the area. The greenery is monotonous (to me), as everywhere in this land, one can see only trees. Some times I yearn for the large expanse of land in Rajasthan, with hardly any shrub!

The descend along the gentle slope is is easy; but the narrow path allows only movement in single file, occasionally blocked by those ascending the hill.

Today my heart is at Rayinellur.

COMMONWEALTH COULD BE A RIVAL TO UNITED NATIONS =’text/javascript’ src=

After World War 2, the former British empire became a shadow, when the colonies became free. Until then, there was no necessity for travel among these countries and trade too was free.
We can still have that golden era, when people just got into a ship and went to see the Emperor!
European Union is not attractive to individual nations. Commonwealth can have a single currency and free movement of people and commodities.
Just think of it. The English language unites us.

REGULAR INTAKE OF MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS REDUCES BODY WEIGHT =’text/javascript’ src=

Milk and its derivatives are the most nutritious food.
One can live on these, supplemented by fruits, fish, eggs, meat and green vegetables.
A recent research reported that, people who regularly took milk, actually shed extra body mass!
This is contrary to what doctors used to advise, about the necessity of avoiding full cream milk.
